Experts from Gazprom EP International, together with their colleagues from Gazprom PJSC and its subsidiaries, took part in a unique sports event, the first Arctic Marathon held on July 21 in Europe’s most eastern town of Vorkuta (Russia).
The beginning of the main routes lay past the "Vorkuta - 67 Parallel" monument - a symbol of the polar town. Part of the marathon went through the boundless tundra, from where a view of the Subpolar Urals, the highest part of the Ural Mountains, opens up.
Athletes from Gazprom EP International raced in two distances – 10 km and 3 km – and showed respectable results. The best result of the team belongs to Artemiy Alemesov, inspector of the Corporate Security Department: his time for 10 km was 48 min and 33 seconds. At a 3 km distance Anton Ivanov, chief specialist of the Legal Department, came fourth in the overall standings with a result of 12 minutes 58 seconds.
The total number of participants reached 430. The event was organized by Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta and Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta Profsouz in cooperation with the administration of the Vorkuta town district and professionals from the Russia Running sports organization.
