Gazprom International celebrated its anniversary on September 17.
The Company dates back to 1998 when Gazprom, Zarubezhneft and Stroytransgaz established a joint venture – Zarubezhneftegaz – later Gazprom International to participate in foreign projects. This was the first and certainly successful attempt of Russian corporations to step into the international arena.
Over a twenty-year period, the Company has become a reliable foreign projects operator of Gazprom, which operates in 17 countries on three continents. The Company is extensively developing cooperation with Vietnam, Bolivia, and Bangladesh. Projects involving Gazprom International account for 21%, 14% and 10% of all national gas production in these countries, respectively. Vietnam is the flagship of the Company’s energy initiatives. Exploration and prospecting have been underway here since the late 90s. Together with its strategic partner – Petrovietnam – the Company also produces hydrocarbons, prepares to develop the market of power generation and NGV of the republic, as well as LNG supplies. Earlier this year, Gazprom International completed the third stage of well construction in Bangladesh: the country’s energy system receives about 8 million cubic meters of gas every day. Today the Company is considering new areas of exploration and involvement in the country’s production projects. A landmark event was putting the Incahuasi gas condensate field into production in Bolivia. Produced gas is mainly exported to Argentina, while condensate is sold on the domestic market. Exploration activities continue in Azero area. The Company plans to expand its presence in the energy market of Bolivia.
Gazprom International places emphasis on supporting educational and social initiatives. The Company is actively involved in the organization of dedicated conferences and educational events, supports experience sharing programs, cultural, educational and scientific activities. Cooperation is ongoing continuously with the leading dedicated universities of Russia and Europe; academic and research internships are offered for students and graduates.
Gazprom International continues to expand the geography of its presence: “We are considering a number of prospective projects in new regions: Iran, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Pakistan, Oman, and Tanzania. At the same time, we focus on the long-term mutually beneficial partnership, economic efficiency, maintaining high environmental performance and strengthening the reputation of a socially conscious company,” noted Andrey Fick, the Company’s Managing Director.
