Gazprom OJSC (the Russian Federation) and the State Agency for Geology and Mineral Resources of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic signed License Agreement No. 3 for the period until December 2012.
Under the Agreement, Gazprom Zarubezhneftegaz (the operator of the project) will carry out prospecting and geological exploration work for oil and gas within the areas of East Maylisu-IV and Kugart in the south of Kyrgyzstan.
The project received expert approval with regard to the protection of the subsoil, environmental and technical safety.
The program of geological study of these subsoil areas includes the following types of work:
- Processing and re-interpretation of seismic data from previous years
- CDP-2D seismic survey
- Gravimetric survey
- Drilling of exploratory wells (the optional stage)
- Processing and analysis of results from the drilling of wells in combination with seismic data. Preparation of the report.
In addition, Gazprom OJSC, in the process of implementation of the "Agreement on General Principles of Geological Exploration of the Subsoil in Prospective Oil and Gas Areas of the Kyrgyz Republic" dated 14 May 2007, will provide significant investment aid to equip medical institutions of the Republic with modern equipment.
Gazprom Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) is the largest gas company in the world. The main areas of its activities are geological exploration, production, transportation, storage, processing and marketing of gas and other hydrocarbons. Gazprom OJSC possesses the world’s richest natural gas reserves. Gazprom OJSC accounts for about 20 % of global gas production and about 90 % of Russian gas production. The state owns a controlling stake of Gazprom shares: 50.002 %.
On 16 May 2003, a cooperation agreement was signed by Gazprom OJSC and the Government of Kyrgyzstan. To form a legal basis for their strategic cooperation, Gazprom OJSC and the Government of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan signed a long-term Agreement on Collaboration in the Gas Sector for a period of 25 years.
The document, in particular, envisages the following:
- exploration, development and operation of hydrocarbon fields in the Kyrgyz Republic;
- reconstruction, construction and operation of gas pipelines and other infrastructure facilities in the gas sector of the Kyrgyz Republic;
- gas transportation and supply through the implementation of joint projects.
Gazprom has appointed Gazprom Zarubezhneftegaz CJSC, a 100% subsidiary of Gazprom OJSC, to be the operator of Gazprom’s future joint gas projects in the territory of the Republic. The company is the operator of Gazprom's overseas investment projects. The company is currently conducting a number of overseas projects in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, India and other countries.
The activities of Gazprom Zarubezhneftegaz in the Kyrgyz Republic are coordinated by the company's Representative Office in Bishkek, registered in the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic on 25 April 2006.
On 9 October 2008, during the visit of the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Bishkek, the management of Gazprom OJSC and Gazprom Zarubezhneftegaz CJSC donated 15 ambulance vehicles to Kyrgyzstan. Nike HyperRev 2017
