Today on the fields of the Saint Petersburg International Gas Forum, Andrey Fick, Managing Director of Gazprom EP International, and Nguyen Duc Chinh, Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee (Socialist Republic of Vietnam) inked a Memorandum of Understanding.
The Memorandum reflects the intentions of the parties to apply their best efforts for bringing to life a Combined Cycle Power Plant with a projected output of 340MW. The construction works are planned on a 45 hectare site in Quang Tri Province. Additional 5 hectares of land may be also provided for the construction of a residential complex for the power plant's personnel.
At this point, Gazprom EP International is awaiting a decision from the Government of Vietnam on becoming the project investor. After that the active phase of the project life cycle will start. The allocated land allows for a future increase of the power plant capacity, if the parties wish so.
Gazprom's interests in Vietnam are represented by Gazprom EP International B.V., a company focusing on overseas projects, including power generation and LNG projects. In December 2018 by decision of the Vietnamese Government the Quang Tri Power Plant was included into the National Power Development Plan - PDP-VII.
